Route
Through Valais to the foot of the Matterhorn — about three and a half hours from Zurich to Täsch, the last car-accessible stop before car-free Zermatt.
The transfer from Zurich to Zermatt covers about 245 kilometres and takes roughly three hours and 30 minutes. The route heads southwest via Bern and then follows the A9 into Valais, climbing through the Rhône valley before the final approach to Täsch. Zermatt is car-free — vehicles are not permitted beyond Täsch, which sits about 5 kilometres below the village. Your driver will bring you to the Täsch car park or the train station, from where the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn cogwheel train completes the journey into Zermatt in around 12 minutes.

The Rhône valley approach is straightforward but the mountain roads can be affected by winter snowfall and occasional road closures for avalanche control. In high ski season — particularly Christmas and February — traffic in Täsch can be congested. Arriving mid-week is significantly smoother than Saturday and Sunday.
